I took the time to use their software, which started out as free, but then they decided it wasn't good enough, and updated it so it would send me threatening messages. on people who have already downloaded their software. I just think that they shouldn't be using scare tactics. It's straight-up illegal! I don't understand how they manage to keep the FTC off their ass.ĮDIT-they deleted my account when I asked for a copy of the data they recorded from me, or to stop selling it. they lie about security risks they themselves already cover or can easily check for. Yes, I understand this is a baseless, accusatory rant, and all I have are screenshots, but honestly, avast is CLEARLY violating scareware legislation. You've told me my PC is slowing down- and the moment I check, avast suddenly blasts all my drives with an update of some unholy description, making it impossible to click on anything! These slowdowns have taken up resources and crashed simulations, costing me hours of work!Īvast hasn't even protected me from anything all that bad, it's just exposed me to more, serious threats, like identity theft, all while telling me were I live (400 miles off, by the way) and trying to get me to buy other, probably even more broken software.

Why would an antivirus need webcam access if it was a legitimate antivirus?

You've taken control of my webcam in scare tactics, thanks, but I AM AWARE YOU ARE ON MY COMPUTER. My father has come to me, worried about being hacked, your popups shared sensitive information like my IP and rough location to clients, and even beyond that, said that I had poor protection and my security is lacking while sharing my screen with prospective clients. I'm totally glad the moment there was something to sell, ethics went out the window. I've been loyal for a good decade and a quarter, but avast rewarded my loyalty by lying to me, doxxing me, scaring my loved ones, and being an absolute scumbag.
